What kind of filter is this and how do i clean it?

My brother recently passed and i’m trying to figure out how to take care of his fish. I know different filters require different cleaning methods, and I couldn’t find a box to identify this. Any help would be appreciated. Also, advice on how to maintain a small aquarium in general. I posted on r/fish and they had some good advice, but they said i should post here instead. I have more pictures of the setup and supplies if anyone wants it.
